MISS WORLD 2011: MY TAKE!

We have a new Miss World, the glamorous Ivian Sarcos from the pageant powerhouse of South America, Venezuela. And my girl Gwendolyn Ruais placed second! Wow! I really expected this one!

As customary with all the pageant fans worldwide, I have here my prediction list for Miss World. I got the winner, and nine others. See for yourself!

Miss World 2011: Venezuela, Ivian Sarcos
1st Princess: Ireland, Holly Carpenter
2nd Princess: Philippines, Gwendolyn Ruais

Top TEN
ARUBA- CANADA- INDIA- GUATEMALA- RUSSIA- KAZAKHSTAN- SWEDEN

Top TWENTY-FIVE
ARGENTINA- PUERTO RICO- BONAIRE- SPAIN- ENGLAND- BRAZIL- COLOMBIA- AUSTRALIA- ALBANIA- ST. BARTS- LEBANON- ITALY- EGYPT- USVI- TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO- ZIMBABWE

(Countries in boldface placed in the semis)

The actual list was a bit better than mine, but I didn't like how Scotland stole the spots from Ireland and Aruba. Holly Carpenter was a hell lot of better than Scotland, and Aruba's performance is so stellar it's so confusing how they did not even make the top 30.

Missosology, the world's greatest pageant forum in my opinion, also predicted the win of Venezuela. See it!

I love how the Miss World Organization stepped it up this time. The scoreboard's a way to be transparent with the people, who are sometimes doubting about their bets placing or not. But still, it didn't show how a certain delegate advanced, or how did they even get that score. I also hate the selection of the top 15. I mean, last year's better; with all the delegates standing and waiting for their countries to be called.

I love the "Dances of the World" segment, wherein selected girls danced in front of the audience wearing their national costumes. Venezuela's a striking huntress, no wonder Jason Cook's smitten with her. Latvia's awesome, and South Africa's elegant.

Venezuela in a sexy huntress costume. Hot!

Overall, no apprehensions to the winners, and we all wished them a blessed reign ahead. Viva Venezuela y Puerto Rico, and Mabuhay Philippines!

PAGEANT HERALD: MISS WORLD 2011: VENEZUELA!

Twenty-two year old Ivian Sarcos Colmenares from Venezuela was crowned the sixty-first Miss World in a ceremony filled with glitz, glamor and nostalgia held in London, England.

Completing her court were Misses Philippines Gwendolyn Ruais and Puerto Rico Amanda Villanova, placing as the First and Second Princesses, respectively.

Sarcos, from the state of Amazonas in Venezuela, bested 120 other women from all around the world. She was the sixth Venezuelan to bring home the crown. The last before her was Jacqueline Aguilera in 1995.

Asked by AFP on how she felt when she was called as the new queen of the world, Ivian remarked, "I felt the most gorgeous woman in the world. I was so happy and I wanted to shout, to cry, to stand still and to smile. So many emotions."

Sarcos was raised by nuns before worked for a broadcasting company and winning the national title in Venezuela. She represented the state of Amazonas.

Inside the Earl's Court Convention Center were fans from all nations waving their flags and screaming the countries' names throughout the night. Puerto Ricans, Filipinos, Venezuelans and the home crowd were all noisy to show their support to their representatives. However, outside the venue were 200 feminist protesters who were against the beauty pageant's return to London after some time.

Delegates from South Africa, England, Scotland and Korea formed the top 7 finalists, while the ladies from Indonesia, Italy, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, US Virgin Islands, Kazakhstan, Sweden and Spain completed the fifteen semifinalists who were chosen based on their scores shown in a large scoreboard throughout the event. Venezuela was voted as the Continental Queen of the Americas, Philippines for Asia, South Africa for Africa, England for Europe and Puerto Rico for the Caribbean islands.

The winner and her princesses will tour around the world helping charitable institutions worldwide, therefore applying the slogan, "Beauty with a Purpose."

The next year's pageant will be held in Ordos, Inner Mongolia.

SPOTLIGHT: KRISTA WHITE

Exquisite. Enticing. Ebony-skinned. And a winner.

For our first model under our 'Spotlight', we will be meeting a reality show winner turned into one of the most booked supermodels in the fashion industry. Please welcome, Krista White!

Krista's surname is White, but interestingly enough, she is dark-skinned! Talk about irony!

She was the Cycle 14 winner of the hit reality modeling show, America's Next Top Model by Tyra Banks. She was now 27 years old, she came from Pine Bluff, AR and worked as a retail manager before she graced the runways and the fashion spreads.

In her Top Model stint, she impressed the panel for producing photos with supreme flair and high-fashion feel in to it. She received four consecutive first call-outs, and she never placed in the bottom two! She was the fourth to do that, preceding Nicole Fox, Jaslene Gonzales and McKey Sullivan.

She and Raina Hein battled for the $100, 000 contract with Covergirl Cosmetics, a cover and six-page spread in Seventeen magazine and a modeling contract with Wilhelmina Models, the same modeling agency that handled pros like Beyonce, Britney Spears, Somalian supermodel Iman, Anjelica Huston and the other winners of the hit show. They strutted the runway wearing designs from Anna Sui. While discussing the final two’s overall portfolios throughout the season, the judges deemed Krista as a more sophisticated and edgy model who would do well on the runway, while Raina was the beauty model who would make waves internationally as a photo model.

After her stint, she walked the runway of the NY designer Nicole Miller in the NZ Fashion Week. Also, she modeled for top designer Betsy Johnson and Sergio Guaddaramo's "Celestino Collection." Recently, she graced the runway for BET's Rip the Runway.

Firsts: A Message to My Readers. :)

Hello there! Kristoff here for my first blog entry. I am now starting a new blog for my fashion insights, forecasts and everything worthy of writing here. I am just starting my career, so please do not expect superglamorous entries, but I will try my very best to pen tasteful articles.

I will also feature top models here, in my 'Spotlight' section, so watch out for that! First up is the winner of America's Next Top Model Cycle 14, the ebony vixen of fashion, KRISTA PINE.

As pageants and fashion usually mingle and meddle with each other, I will also feature articles from pageants. Whether it's the TOP TEN BEST DRESSED or the TOP TEN EYESORES, it will be featured here as well.

Reviews from the latest designs and creations of different designers will be seen here, also with my comments.

I look forward to more visitors in my blog. Please feel free to comment on my posts to be able to improve my skills. Thanks and Ciao!
